I am grateful for the warmth and hospitality that Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel regularly provides. I am also thankful for the depth and breadth of opportunities available for parishioners of all ages and stages!
My work experience (33+ years) includes strategy and policy formulation, planning and leading meetings, and measurement. As a professor of business at County College of Morris, I have worked with young adults, aged 18 to 22 years, for the past 21 years, and have served on several committees pertaining to academic standards, student engagement and retention, and program review.
I believe parish leadership must focus strongly on engaging youth and young adults at the church (post Confirmation through age 25), especially the gap between high school graduation and the average age of the young adult group. This could take many forms: prayer opportunities, service/cleanup opportunities at the parish (we called these events “Nazarene Day” at my former parish), social gatherings, game nights, cooking nights, Open Mic, themed discussions, etc.
