Behind every celebration of Holy Mass here at Notre Dame is the quiet, faithful work of our parish sacristan, Marc Luciani. While Marc is not in our facilities 24/7, it seems that no matter what time you happen to be here, you are sure to run into Marc. What most don't see is his ministry of preparing for the celebration of Mass.
Below, Marc shares about the quiet yet highly intentional work behind the scenes in preparation to welcome our parish community and visitors to the celebration of Holy Mass.
Marc's attention to detail helps create an atmosphere of beauty, order, and reverence, allowing our clergy and ministers (Welcomers, Ushers, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Altar Servers, and Music Ministers) to focus fully on the celebration of the Eucharist.
As Marc shares on the video, his work is more than logistical—his faith and commitment to our Lord and our parish make his service highly spiritual.
We are deeply grateful for the essential ministry of Church sacristans, and specifically for our Marc Luciani, whose dedication, humility, and love for our Lord and His Church help ensure that every Mass is celebrated with dignity, care, and prayerful intention. His service reminds us that even the quietest roles can have a profound impact on how we "encounter Our Lord" in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
“I will bow down toward your holy sanctuary in awe of your faithfulness and love.” — Psalm 138:2
