Novena for Priestly Ordination
Deacon Joe and Karen Harris invite us to pray a Novena for Priestly Ordination for the special intentions of our soon-to-be-ordained priest, Dcn. Lucas Folan, on June 13, 2026.
Day 1 (6/4): In Gratitude for Their Calling- Intention: For our soon-to-be priest, Deacon Lucas, in thanksgiving for his generous "yes" to God's call.
- Prayer: Lord our God, you appointed Jesus Christ High Priest of the eternal covenant. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon Deacon Lucas as he approaches his ordination. Free him from temptation, and fix his heart firmly on the One who called him. Bless his years of preparation and let him be a sign of Your unconditional love. Amen. [Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be]
- Intention: That as he becomes a priest, Deacon Lucas may celebrate the sacraments faithfully and reverently.
- Prayer: Jesus, Good Shepherd, we pray that Deacon Lucas will always consider himself a bridge between God and man. Grant him the grace to bring Your mercy, healing, and presence to Your people through the Eucharist and Confession. May he shepherd souls with a heart full of compassion. Amen. [Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be]
- Intention: For a deep, persevering faith in the midst of a changing world.
- Prayer: Almighty Father, we ask You to grant Deacon Lucas a bright and firm faith. When worldly pressures or anxieties surround him, give him the grace to walk securely with the Lord. Fill him with the wisdom to preach the Gospel worthily and wisely. Amen. [Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be]
- Intention: For the virtue of holy purity.
- Prayer: Lord, keep the mind and soul of Deacon Lucas as spotless as the Host he will daily elevate. When earthly pleasures allure, shelter him in Your Sacred Heart. Strengthen his resolve to be a pure and holy vessel for Your glory. Amen. [Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be]
- Intention: That he may be molded into the shape of Jesus Christ through quiet contemplation.
- Prayer: St. John Vianney, you spent hours in quiet prayer, allowing God to shape your heart. We ask you to intercede for Deacon Lucas, that he may learn to pray without ceasing, listen attentively to the Holy Spirit, and continually be renewed in his spiritual life. Amen. - Intention: For consolation and strength in times of struggle or loneliness.
- Prayer: O compassionate God, remember that Deacon Lucas is but a weak and frail human being. Comfort him in hours of loneliness, strengthen him in sorrow, and remind him that it is through sacrifice that the soul is purified. Keep him safe when he is weary or discouraged. Amen. - Intention: That he may tirelessly seek the lost sheep and spread the Kingdom of God.
- Prayer: Jesus, Master of the harvest, ignite a deep missionary zeal in the heart of [Name]. May he bring forgiveness to sinners, comfort to the suffering, and be a beacon of hope to the dying. Use his hands and voice to bring Your light to everyone he encounters. Amen. [Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be]
- Intention: That the ordinand may be closely united to Christ in his offering.
- Prayer: Father, may Christ's Paschal Mystery always be at the center of Deacon Lucas's mind, heart, and soul. Bind him closely to Christ the High Priest, who offered Himself as a pure sacrifice for us. Let his life become an offering united with the Holy Mass. Amen. [Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be]
- Intention: Entrusting the new priest to the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
- Prayer: O Holy Mother of God, we place Deacon Lucas into your hands as he begins his priestly ministry. Help him by your intercession to be a holy, zealous, and joyful priest. Wrap him in your mantle, and lead him always to your Son. Amen. [Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be]
